Writing after almost showering

Now this one is a funny one because it’s why I came and sat down on my desk to start writing again.

I was going to take a bath. While I was listening to Amy Landino’s Shine Squad daily podcast and my own podcast, I felt inspired to “go after the life I want.” (If you know Amy, you know wink.)

And the life I want right now is here writing to you on the Focused Weeks blog and hopefully publishing this on the Focused Weeks podcast, too.

I don’t really know why but I feel like trying to know my why for all this only leads to more confusion.

So I let go of that question and I write my heart out with the intention of sharing what I feel.

It’s amazing how we dismiss feelings when we’re all made of it and so much more.

I feel like it’s the most untapped resource these days.

When we focus on the feeling, when we ask ourselves how we truly feel about something or someone, then we find our true answers. And that’s not about asking ourselves WHY. It’s just about asking how we feel.

How much more when we act on something that we feel deeply energizes us?

How much more when we “be” the person who encourages encourages expression.

When we supress our feelings to “help someone” or a situation, we’re not really helping. We don’t always have to say what we’re feeling, but we can always feel what we’re feeling and respond to it with so much kindness. Not because we want to change someone or something. But because kindness can signify hope for someone or something else to shift.

To be real, kindness doesn’t always change people or situations though. Ultimately, these people and situations have a way of deciding for themselves what they really want.

I’m just talking about kindness because it’s something value. I feel good when I give and receive it. But I know that not all people are this way and that’s okay.

We can always respond to feelings with whatever value we identify with.

Some people may respond to feelings with practicality. Some, with fear. Others, with understanding.

All borne out of what we know for sure based on who we’ve become and what we’ve experienced.

And still, the truth remains. We all have feelings.

Right now, I feel the need to justify why we should talk about feelings. There’s that question again, WHY?

See, if I didn’t feel that I needed to justify something, it wouldn’t lead me to being here now.

Our feelings and emotions are our resources, and sometimes, our missed opportunity to understand the way we BE and DO.

Today, I acted on a feeling, an inspiration, to write when I felt like it was my next step. And there are no answers here. There’s just natural phenomenon occuring. We tend to act based on our feelings and then we figure out why later on.

Maybe the human mind wasn’t made to just think, but also to create something from a feeling. And maybe it will never make sense now but, if history has anything to teach us, it is that we only make sense out of the puzzle when all the pieces are complete.

It doesn’t have to make sense now. Build your puzzle anyway.
